Matt Williams was born in Tennant Creek on the land of the Patta Warmungu people in the centre of the Northern Territory. Later living in Darwin and on Norfolk Island, and subsequently in global cities including Sydney, Melbourne and Abu Dhabi, Matt developed a keen understanding of the importance of place, history and cultures and a deep curiosity to engage with people on deeper level to truly understand their perspectives.
Born on the lands of the Bunurong Peoples of the Kulin Nation in Mount Burnett, amidst the rolling hills and misty gullies of Eastern Victoria, Kate Gaffney was raised on a beef and timber property surrounded by native animals and bushland which had been protected from logging. This ingrained a love of nature, a knowledge of the importance of long term sustainable farming practices and a determination to ensure the natural environment and our food security are protected.
Our shared sense of place, history and community drives our understanding that truly sustainable societies require more than just decarbonization and reusable shopping bags.
In our name we bring together the red ochre of outback Australia and the lush green temperate rainforests of Eastern Victoria emphasising the importance of place and valuing diversity; and of the supreme importance of protecting our natural environments.
